Hello lovely friend, how are you today?
Rest is magic for the whole body, mind and soul. No, really, it is. When we allow the physical body to rest in stillness, the nervous system sends a message to the brain. Something like, ‘Hey buddy, all is well. I’ve checked and there are no lions chasing us right now. How ’bout you chill for a little while. While you do that, I’ll tell the ‘rest and repair’ department to get busy err, resting and repairing. That way, when you’re done resting, you’re gonna feel great – ready to begin again!’
Many of us resist resting. “Nana naps” are just for Nana’s right? But really, the world would be a much calmer place if we all took a few minutes a day to hit the deck.
Ok, I know lying down in the middle of your office after lunch is likely not appropriate, but I encourage you to take 5 whenever you can – on the weekends, or during the work day, perhaps head to a park in your lunch hour (half hour, who am I kidding??) and at least sit and close your eyes for a few minutes.
